Chhatra Dal central committee sues its expelled leader for defaming party

A case has been filed against Obaidul Islam Saikat, covener of Kalabagan Thana unit Chhatra Dal, who was expelled on specific charges including extortion.

The case was filed at Kalabagan police station by Shyamal Malum, senior joint general secretary of Chhtra Dal, on Thursday, according to a press release signed by Md Jahangir Alam, office secretary (Vice President rank) of the party.

Earlier on Sept 2, Obaidul Islam Saikat, along with 15/20 people, attacked the business establishment named ‘Chandpur Store’ next to Panthpath signal and looted Tk 60,000 in cash and physically assaulted the owner of the establishment.

Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal immediately expelled him due to his involvement in the criminal activities and on the instructions of  party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
