Community Initiative Society (CIS), Dhaka Community Hospital Trust (DCH Trust) & Dhaka Community Medical College (DCMC) advance disaster response team has reached already in the affected areas and also triggered the use of the Emergency fund for pre-analysis of the situation and relief distribution which includes dry foods packs, Safe Drinking water, oral rehydration saline (ORS), water purification tablets (Halotab), candles, Lighters and some necessary emergency medications. Additionally, our team actively participates in volunteering to rescue and transport locals who are stranded in flooded areas to safe rescue centers. More than 700 mobile medical teams including DCHT & DCMC MMT teams are working in the deadly floods. CIS & A-PAD Bangladesh is supporting initially 500 families in Cumilla, Feni, Noakhali and Habiganj. We are also planning to continue this support until situation gets better.
Flash floods wrought havoc in Bangladesh, as the country recovers from weeks of political upheaval, with the death toll rising to 16 and 5.1 million affected by floods in 11 districts of Bangladesh. Flash floods unleashed by heavy rains and an onrush of water from upstream in India tore through Bangladesh’s eastern, southeastern, and northeastern districts. Multiple rescue operations are underway across Bangladesh, with the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Navy, and Fire Service and Civil Defense Stations working together to save lives.
