Health authorities in Bangladesh have registered 51 more deaths and 1,901 cases from Covid-19 across the country in last 24 hours to Wednesday morning.
With the latest figures, the country’s total Covid-19 death toll reached 27,058 while the number of total case count reached 1536,341 so far, according to the daily handout issued by the Director General of Health Services (DGHS).
The country reported 6.64 percent COVID-19 positive cases as 28,615 samples were tested in the past 24 hours. The total positivity rate stands at 16.46 percent.
The recovery count rose to 1490,541 after another 3,873 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the past one day.
The DGHS statistics showed of the people infected from the beginning 97.02 percent recovered, while the death rate remained static at 1.76 percent.
Among the deaths reported on Wednesday, 20 died in the Dhaka division, 11 in Chattogram, four in Rajshahi, five each in Khulna and Sylhet, and three each in Barishal and Mymensingh divisions.
Off them, 32 were men, and 19 were women. Of them, one was between 11-20 years old, two between 31-40, five were between 41-50, 15 between 51-60, and 28 were above 60 years old, added the release.
The DGHS said among the total 27,058 fatalities, 11,767 deaths occurred in Dhaka division, 5,479 in Chattogram, 2001 in Rajshahi, 3,510 in Khulna, 925 in Barishal, 1,223 in Sylhet, 1,333 in Rangpur and 820 in Mymensingh division.
