Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir on Thursday urged crime reporters not to write any report that provokes unrest in the country. “It’s the responsibility of journalists not to write any misleading report that makes the country unstable,” he said when Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) President Mirza Mehdi Tamal paid a courtesy call on him at Bashundhara Industrial Headquarters-1 in Bashundhara Residential Area in the capital after his re-election.
Sayem Sobhan Anvir also expressed the hope that CRAB will always play a role in ensuring objective journalism. “CRAB members will unearth the truth through honest and courageous investigation,” he said. Wishing better future for the organisation, he reiterated his commitment to standing by its members in any need. “You’ll always find me by you in any need in the future like the past,” he added.
The CRAB president greeted the Bashundhara Group MD with a bouquet for standing by the members of his organisation. ABG Technologies Adviser Mustafa Azad Mohiuddin, Head of Finance (Treasurer) Sector-B of Bashundhara Group Nore Alam Siddiqui, Kaler Kantho Deputy Editor Haider Ali, News24 Deputy Chief News Editor Ashiqur Rahman Srabon and Bangladesh Pratidin Business Editor Ruhul Amin Rasel were present on the occasion.
Earlier on May 8 last year, the executive committee of CRAB had a courtesy meeting with Sayem Sobhan Anvir. At that time, he assured the committee that CRAB would have its own permanent office at the earliest. Going by his words, the Bashundhara Group MD gave it the permanent office at Rupayan FPAB Tower in Nayapaltan area of the capital and he opened it on December 22 last.
During the inauguration programme, he said, “After 36 years, you’ve got a permanent place. I’ll try to give you a better place in the future. I’ll try to make a beautiful building for you from where you can conduct your activities smoothly.”
Tamal, who is also the Special Correspondent of Bangladesh Pratidin, was re-elected as CRAB president for the second consecutive time.
