Default loans of Non-Bank Financial Institutions (NBFIs) rose 54.29 percent to Tk 15.936.42 crore in three months to June, 2022 compared to the same period last year, official sources said.
The total amount of default loans of NBFIs was 23 percent of the total loans disbursed, according to the latest data of Bangladesh Bank.
The total amount of loans disbursed by NBFIs stood at Tk 69,313.72 crore at the end of June 2022.
The total amount of defaulted loans of NBFIs was Tk 14,232.8 crore at the end of March this year. The amount of total loan disbursed was Tk 68,975 .51 crore.
Central bank data also showed, in the first quarter of January-March 2021, the default loans of NBFIs was Tk 10,354 crore. After three months in June, the defaulted loans of these institutions fell by Tk 25 crore to Tk 10,328 crore. In July-September last year, the amount of defaulted loans increased by Tk 1,429 crore to Tk 11,757 crore. At the end of December, defaulted loans increased by Tk 1,259 crore to Tk 13016 crore compared to the previous quarter.
The financial stability report of the central banl also showed that defaulted loans of the banking sector stood at Tk 1,25,257 crore, which was 8.96 percent of the total loans worth Tk 13,98,592 crore disbursed till then.
The defaulted loans of the banking was Tk 1,13,440 crore at the end of March, which increased by Tk 11,817 crore in three months to June. The amount of default loans was Tk 99,205 crore at the end of June.
