DIU observes World Consumer Rights Day

Daffodil Legal Research Center of Daffodil International University observed the World Consumer Rights Day today on March 15, 2022 based on the theme ”“Fairness in digital management system .

The program was held at the international conference room of Daffodil International University (DIU). Mr. A. H. M Shafiquzzaman, Director General (Additional Secretary) of Directorate of National Consumers’ Rights Protection was present as the Chief Guest. Besides, Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice-Chancellor, DIU; Professor Dr. M. ShamsulAlam, Dean, Faculty of Engineering; Professor A. M. M. Hamidur Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences; Professor Dr. Tureen Afroze, faculty member of the law department of DIU and Professor Dr. Kudrat-E- KhudaBabu, Head, Department of Law, DIU were also present at the program along with a large number of law teachers and students. Md. Riaduzzaman, Assistant Professor of Law moderated the program.  

Four separate groups (consists of eight law students) of the law department presented their research projects on the existing legal challenges of the e-commerce sector; pharmaceutical liability for the defective drugs sale under Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009; the dispute resolution mechanism of the Consumer Protection Act, 2009 and the provisions of damages under the Consumer Protection Act, 2009. The teachers, educators, and other practitioners had the opportunity to share their best practices and experiences with others. It was committed to accelerating the roles and functions of Daffodil Legal Research Center in this arena and strongly promised to work jointly with the Directorate of National Consumers’ Rights Protection and Consumer Association of Bangladesh (CAB).
