A four-member delegation of the Daffodil International University (DIU) participated in the 1st Harmony Conference and Project Meeting at the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) University at Mumbai, India recently.
Dr. Mohamed Emran Hossain, Director (Administration) and Member, Board of Trustees of the university led the delegations at the conference titled “Internationalization and Virtual Exchange: Borderless between European Union and Asian Countries.”
The objective of the two-day interactive hybrid conference was to share the internationalization initiatives and learn good academic and research practices from leading universities in Bangladesh, Bulgaria, India, Lithuania, Spain, Slovenia and Vietnam.
DIU is one of the partners of this Erasmus+ CBHE Harmony Project that has been funded with almost 1 million euros in total from the European Commission and includes 11 Universities of Asian and European countries as partners.
The EU Harmony project aims to support the modernization, accessibility and internationalization of higher education institutions like DIU and other partners of the project. Along with sessions from ACU, SII and project partners, Mr. Syed Raihan-Ul-Islam, Senior Assistant Director (International Affairs), DIU presented a session on ‘DIU’s Best Practices of Digitalization and International Mobility Programs’ at the conference. Around 120 faculty, university leaders and staff from EU Harmony Consortium member universities who are involved with internationalization efforts attended the conference in person and virtually. Dr. Rafael de Miguel, Coordinator and Dr. Olesea SIRBU, Co-Coordinator of the Harmony Project along with members from project partners attended a meeting at the conference for planning and evaluation.
The EU Harmony project’s overall objective and the main underpinning of Partner countries’ is to have an impact and trigger reform processes at Higher Education Institutions, enabling them to strategically manage internationalization in the provision of education, research, mobility, and services. NMIMS and project partner universities including DIU signed collaboration agreements at the end of the successful conference.
