Daffodil International University (DIU) will observe the 5th death anniversary of Dr. Aminul Islam, Scientist & Educationist and founding VC of DIU, today (Tuesday), a press release said.
He died on 29th November in 2017. He served as VC of the university from 2002-2010. He was the VC of National University, Bangladesh from 1996-2000.
He started his career at the department of Soil Science of University of Dhaka in 1956 as a junior lecturer and promoted to Professor in 1973. For his outstanding contribution to the great liberation war he was awarded Independence Award in 1991.
Professor Dr. Aminul Islam also served as the President of Science Council of Asia (SCA) for 2016- 2018. He served as president of Bangladesh Association of Sciences (BAS) for several times.
