Dr. Kathryn Northcut, Professor of English and Technical Communication at Missouri University of Science and Technology, USA, has joined North South University’s (NSU) Office of Research as a Fulbright Specialist on a short-term affiliation, arranged by the American Embassy in Dhaka.
A specialist in technical communication, Dr. Northcut will conduct a series of workshops on research grant writing for the faculty members of all four schools of NSU and provide individual consultations to faculty. She will also engage undergraduate and graduate students in several seminars.
Vice Chancellor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury welcomed Dr. Northcut to NSU and expressed their gratitude to her and the American Embassy in Dhaka for her six-week visit.
Professor Norman K. Swazo, Director of the Office of Research, noted that the workshops are designed to enhance capacity building among faculty members as they pursue extramural research grants. Such grants are essential elements of NSU’s Strategic Research Plan as the university gradually transitions from being research-active to becoming a research-intensive institution while maintaining its commitment to excellence in teaching.
