Eastern University and the Bangladesh Garment Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the GAPEXPO fair on 8 January.
This strategic partnership will focus on collaboration in areas such as research, training, internships and skill development within the garment and packaging industries.
The MoU was signed by Professor Dr. Shahid Akhtar Hossain, Vice Chancellor of Eastern University and Mr. Al Shahriar Ahmed, President of BGAPMEA, in the presence of the chief guest, Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Managing Director of Akij-Bashir Group and adviser to the 2024 interim government of Bangladesh, who graced the event with his esteemed presence. Special guest was Md. Maniruzzaman Molla, Chairman, Board of Trusties, Eastern University. The agreement aims to offer students valuable industry exposure through internships and workshops, while fostering knowledge exchange between academia and the industry. Students referred by BGAPMEA members will be eligible for a 10% special tuition fee waiver, further strengthening the ties between the university and the association.
As the education partner of the GAPEXPO fair, Eastern University has set up a stall at the event, where they will be actively engaged in promoting education and career opportunities. The university will be attending the fair until its conclusion on January 11th, providing valuable insights and information to attendees.
