Eighth grader dies after being hit by train in Madaripur

An eighth grader died on Friday night after being hit by a Dhaka-bound train in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur.

The deceased was Ibrahim Khan, 15, son of Hiran Khan of Sharey Egaro Roshi village in/under the upazila. He was a student of Madbarer Char RM High School in the area.

According to the witnesses, the train from Bhanga railway station in Faridpur hit him while he was standing on the railway track in the Panchchar area around 8:30pm.

Local people rescued him and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted with a severe head injury.

As his condition worsened, he was being transferred to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for better treatment. But he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Confirming the news of the death, Shibchar police station Officer-in-Charge Subrata Goldar told , “We are investigating the matter.”
