Ex-DIU controller Prof. Golam Mowla Chowdhurry dies

Country’s Renowned Educationist and Former Controller of Examinations of Daffodil International University Professor Dr. Golam Mowla Chowdhury is no more. He passed away on November 7 at Square Hospital at Dhanmondi in the capital.  He was 80. He had been suffering from different old age ailments. He left behind his wife, two sons, and one daughter, and number of grand sons and daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.  His Namaj-e-Janaza will be held on November 8 after Johr prayer at Sorkhal village of Faridganj Upazila under Chandpur Diestrict.

Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S M Mahabub Ul Haque Mazumder, Members of Board of Trustees, the management, faculty members and employees of Daffodil International University expressed deep condolence at the death of Professor Dr. Golam Mowla Chowdhury and conveyed sympathy to bereaved family members.

Professor Dr. Golam Mowla Chowdhury was born in Sarkhal village of Faridganj upazila of Chandpur district in 1944.  He passed the Matriculation from Comilla Zila School in 1960 and I Sc from Victoria College in 1962 and Honors in Physics from Dhaka University in 1965 and M Sc. from the same department in 1966. He received his PhD degree from Southampton University in England in 1974 with a government scholarship. During his professional career he taught at Chittagong University and Rajshahi University and after retiring as a professor from Rajshahi University in 2007, he joined Daffodil International University as a professor in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications (now Information and Communication Engineering).

Apart from teaching, he took the responsibility of the controller of examinations, of the university from 2012 and remained in this position till February 2021. He has published more than 50 research papers in various national and international journals and conferences. He also published two textbooks for honors and master’s courses.
