A court on Tuesday put former railway minister Nurul Islam Sujan on a 3-day remand in a case over the murder of a student, Imran Hasan, who was shot dead during the mass uprising.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza passed the order after hearing from both sides.
Earlier, sub-inspector of Jatrabari police station and also the investigation officer of the case Shah Alam Mia produced Sujan before the court and sought a five-day remand for questioning.
Nurul Islam Sujan’s lawyer had filed petitions seeking cancellation of the remand and applied for bail. The court rejected the bail plea.
Imran Hasan was shot dead on the morning of August 5 during indiscriminate firing by Awami League leaders, activists, and the police on students and civilians.
