Four killed as train hits truck in Mymensingh

Four people were killed and another was injured after a Dhaka-bound train hit a truck at Shambhuganj level crossing in Mymensingh city today.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.  Mymensingh Police Super Masum Ahmmad Bhuiyan confirmed the incident and said move is underway to identify the victims.

“Firefighters recovered four bodies from the spot. Locals rescued and took another person to a local hospital,” Duty Officer at Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters Rafi Al Faroque told BSS.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mymensingh Railway Police Station Jahangir Alam said the accident took place around this noon when a Dhaka-bound Balaka train hit the sand-laden truck at Raghurampur, Shambhuganj.

Immediately after the incident, local people rescued critically injured person and took him to a local hospital.

Local fire service personnel recovered four bodies from the spot.

Train communication between Mymensingh-Netrokona and Mymensingh-Kishoreganj has remained suspended following the incident.
