Four killed in road accidents

Two people were killed and three injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus on Natore-Pabna Highway in Baraigram upazila of Natore yesterday.

The deceased are Moniruzzaman (38) and Al Mahbub (42) of Chuadanga Sadar upazila, said Mashiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Bonpara Highway Police.

The OC said the Rajshahi-bound microbus from Chuadanga collided with the Pabna-bound sand-laden truck in Koyen area around 4:00am, leaving microbus driver Moniruzzaman and its four passengers including Al Mahbub injured.

The injured were taken to a hospital where Mahbub died.

Police seized the vehicles but the truck driver and his assistant managed to flee, he added.

Meanwhile, two people were killed and five others injured when a covered-van hit a three-wheeler in Bangabandhu bridge west zone around 10:30am.

Rozina Sultana (37) and Ayesha Khatun (6), daughter of Nazmul Hasan from Baoitara, Sirajganj died on the spot, said police.
