Four members of Ansar al-Islam remanded

Four members of the banned Islamist militant outfit Ansar al-Islam were remanded for seven days each on Sunday after being arrested in an anti-terrorism law.

Police produced the accused, Jasimul Islam alias Jack, Md. Abdul Mukit, Md. Aminul Haque and Sajib Ikhtiyar before the court on Sunday and sought 10-day remand for them.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Masud-Ur-Rahman granted seven days remand for each of them a hearing.

The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police earlier arrested them from Basila area of Dhaka on Saturday night.

A bag, a machete and five smart phones were recovered from them. A case was filed against them under the Anti-Terrorism Act with the Mohammadpur police station.
