Golden people requires to build a golden country. If we want to build a developed Bangladesh, we must have to create skilled people first. Because the main resource of a country is human resource. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s dream was to turn the manpower of the country into wealth. In order to make his dream a reality, the skills of the people of the country have to be enhanced. For this, not only government initiatives is enough but also non-governmental organizations have to come forward. All these were uttered by the speakers at a roundtable discussion on ‘Bangabandhu’s Human Development Philosophy and Today’s Bangladesh: Perspective of Mujib Birth Centenary’ organized by Daffodil International University and Bangladesh Society for Human Resource Management (BSHRM) on Wednesday (January 19). The program was held at 71 auditorium of Daffodil Education Network atDhanmondi in the capital.

While addressing as the chief guest, MA Mannan, MP said, people are the best resource in the world. It is also said in the Holy Scriptures that you have been created as the best community. That is why Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman said to build people as golden people for Golden Bangladesh. In keeping in line with his ideals, the present government is also working to create skilled human resources. But the government alone would not be able to do this, the planning minister called upon the non-government organizations to come forward besides government’s initiatives.
The planning minister also said, it is true that there is an unemployment in our country. There is also shortage of skilled workerstoo. There is still an 18% labor crisis in our garment sector. That means the kind of education we absorbed is not effective, the kind of skills we absorbed is not effective. That is why unemployment is increasing. We need education and skills according to market demand. Everyone has to be work together on these issues. There is a lack of fairness and liberalism in our country, the minister said and he comment that fairness and liberalism are needed for human resource development. Government and non-government organizations have to have work together in these matters.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan said that Bangabandhu in his historic speech on March 7had said that 70 million people could not be kept under control. He has always given priority to the people of this country. He believed that human beings are wealth. We also need to focus on human resource development. Otherwise, there will be no real development of the country, he added.
Dr. Md. Sabur Khan also said that in the past days, one could tell whether a country was rich or not by looking at its arms and weapons. Now looking at the human resource indexes, one can measure a countrywhether it is rich or not. So there is no alternative but to build skilled human resources.
He stressed that, people need to be respected for their skills, not for their family back ground, the title he bears or what is his political identity. If skilled human resources will not be produced, human resource development would not be fruitful.
