The government has given Taka 18.25 crore as compensation to 31 more people for acquiring their lands for various development projects in the city.
The government has acquired their lands for implementation of five ongoing projects, including BKSP and water treatment plant of RWASA.
The cheques of compensated money were distributed at a function at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) here Thursday afternoon.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Dr Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir attended the distribution ceremony as the chief guest with DC Shamim Ahmed in the chair.
Deputy Director of Local Government Ashraful Islam and Additional DCs Kolyan Chowdhury and Anisul Islam were present on the occasion.
Commissioner Dr Humayun Kabir said the present government under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been implementing diversified projects for overall development of the country.
The government is very much positive to compensate the people whose lands are acquired for the projects timely, he added.
He also urged all quarters to extend their wholehearted cooperation for successful implementation of the projects.
Earlier, 274 other affected landowners were given Taka 56.19 crore as compensation for the same purposes in seven phases.
