The government is formulating a master plan to take forward the tourism industry in a planned way, said State minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali on Tuesday.
“The formulation of the master plan will be completed in December this year and through its implementation the country’s tourism sector will enter a new era,” he said while speaking at a programme on the occasion of World Tourism Day in the city.
Earlier, in the day, he also inaugurated a colourful rally, a food festival and live cooking show of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is sincere about development of tourism sector and if all work together it will be possible to achieve the target soon as well as bring the countries tourism forward, said the minister.
Noting that there is an immense potential of the tourism sector, Mahbub said, “All the facilities and elements of tourism including history, heritage, culture, values and nature of the country should be properly presented to people. Branding has to be done.”
He also stressed need for publicity on the positive sides of the country so that the foreign tourists get attracted by our tourism destinations.
The minister also said that one additional deputy commissioner will be given the charge of coordinating the works in the tourism sector in each district.
