GP contributes Tk 30.31cr to labour welfare fund

Grameenphone has contributed around Tk 30.31 crore  to the Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation Fund under the Ministry of Labour and Employment for the welfare of the workers, a press release said Thursday.

A five-member delegation led by Grameenphone’s Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) Syed Tanvir Husain handed over the cheque to Begum Monnujan Sufian, Honorable Minister of State for the Ministry of Labour and Employment, in the conference room of the ministry on Thursday.

“This fund provides assistance to the workers of the formal and informal sectors for the treatment of accidental deaths in workplaces, injuries, and incurable diseases, and also for the higher education of meritorious children of the workers. So far in this year, around two thousand workers have been provided assistance worth Tk 6.25 crore from this fund,” said Minister of State for Labour and Employment and the chairman of Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation Begum Monnujan Sufian.

Syed Tanvir Husain, CHRO of Grameenphone, said, “Grameenphone being a part of Telenor Group and as a responsible corporate citizen, has been an enabler of digitalization & development over the last 25 years.”

Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment Md. Ehsane Elahi; director general of Bangladesh Workers Welfare Foundation Gokul Krishna Ghosh; inspector general of the department of inspection for factories and establishment Md. Nasir Uddin Ahmed; director general of the department of labour Khaled Mamun Chowdhury ndc; head of industrial relations and HR strategy of Grameenphone K M Sabbir Ahmed; head of compensation and benefits of Grameenphone Mohammad Khaled Mridha; Md. Asaduzzaman and Mohammad Tawhidul Islam of industrial relations and HR strategy of grameenphone were also present.
