Ashraful Alom, popularly known as Hero Alom, was assaulted on a court premises in Bogura town on Sunday.
The You Tuber came under attack on the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court premises around 12:30 pm when he went there to file a case against 33 people including former Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, two former DCs and a UNO for beating him up at a polling centre.
The attackers also forced him to hold his ears and do squat in front of people.
Alom blamed BNP men for the attack.
Alom was a candidate from Bogura-4 constituency in 2018 and Bogura Sadar constituency in 2023.
“During the attack, the attackers said I had hurled abuse at BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman. But I am saying that if anyone can show me any footage of offending Tarique Rahman, then I will roam around with a garland of shoes around my neck,” he said.
Joint general secretary of Bogura district unit BNP Advocate Nazmul Huda Papon denied the allegation of Hero Alom.
“Hero Alom works as an agent of Awami League. Earlier, he filed a case against BNP leader Ruhul Kabir Rizvi. During Awami League regime, he tried to legitimize the lop-sided elections by participating in various polls. For these reasons, the common people of Bogura are angry with Hero Alom,” he said.
