Housewife killed in C’nawabganj

A housewife was killed allegedly by her husband at their rented house at Pathanpara Waltonmore in Chapainawabganj town this noon.

The deceased was identified as Sampa Khatun, 25, wife of Abdullah Al Mamun of Ujanpara Railgate under Godagari upazila in Rajshahi district.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj sadar thana Md. Mintu Rahman said Sampa lived in a rented house of one Tariqul Islam in the aforesaid area along with her husband, two sons and a daughter.

“She was locked in a quarrel with her husband Mamun regarding his extramarital affairs from 10 am till 12 noon,” the OC said, adding that at one stage of their altercation, Sampa’s husband encircled her throat with scurf and killed her by suffocating.

After the incident, Mamun fled away from the scene, he said.

Later, the body was sent to the Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

All the legal procedures are now underway, the OC added.
