A Dhaka court has fixed July 15 for the submission of investigation report against national award winning dancer and choreographer Evan Shahriar Sohag on charges of being involved in human trafficking ring.
The report was scheduled to be submitted on Tuesday. But the investigating agency could not submit the CID report. Therefore, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yasmin Ara fixed July 15 for the submission of the report.
CID arrested Sohag from Niketan in the capital on the night of September 10, 2020. Police then took Sohag on remand for seven days on September 21.
According to the lawsuit, a gang was involved in trafficking women to Dubai and other Middle Eastern countries to get jobs in dance bars. A named Azam Khan has his own hotel and dance bar in Dubai. Those who sang and danced at various events in the country were trafficked to Dubai by alluring them with higher income. Dancers were forced to sex act. Azam Khan and his four accomplices were arrested on the basis of information provided by the Dubai Police. Later on, dancer Sohag was arrested on the basis of the information provided by them.
