Illegal fertilizer trader fined Taka 30,000 in Rangpur

A mobile court fined an illegal fertilizer trader Taka 30,000 for unlawfully hoarding and selling fertilizers at higher prices at Burirhat Bazar in Kawnia upazila in the district on Thursday afternoon.

Based on information that some unscrupulous pesticide fertilizer dealers were illegal hoarding and selling fertilizers at higher prices, Kawnia Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Executive Magistrate Tahmina Tarin conducted the mobile court.

The mobile court fined pesticide trader Md. Alam Miah, owner of Messer’s Sohag Traders, Taka 30,000 at Burirhat Bazar in the upazila for stocking and selling fertilizers without license at higher prices against the fixed rates.

The Executive Magistrate told reporters that strict legal action would be taken against any trader, dealer or businessman if found tampering with fertilizers.

Kawnia Upazila Agriculture Officer Most Shahnaz Parveen, Agriculture Extension Officer Kallol Kishore Sarkar and a police team led by Sub-inspector of Kawnia police station Ratan Kumar Kundu were present.
