Interim government sworn in at 9pm

Instead of eight o’clock in the evening, the swearing-in of the advisers of the interim government will take place at nine o’clock in the evening. On Wednesday, Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman said that the new government will be sworn in at 8 pm today. But the time has been delayed by one hour. Earlier, a 17-member interim government was announced on Thursday (August 8). Nobel Peace Prize winning economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus is the Adviser to this government.

The rest of the advisers are – former governor of Bangladesh Bank Saleh Uddin Ahmed, Dhaka University teacher Dr. Asif Nazrul, Secretary of human rights organization Odhikar Adilur Rahman Khan, former advisor to caretaker government and former Attorney General AF Hasan Arif, former foreign secretary Towhid Hossain, chief executive of Bangladesh Environmental Lawyers Association (BELA) and Supreme Court lawyer Syeda Rizwana Hasan, coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement. Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, former Election Commissioner Brigadier General (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain.

In addition, former ambassador and Chairman of Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Supradeep Chakma, Executive Director of Development Alternatives Policy Research (UBINEG) Farida Akhtar, former director of National Institute of Mental Health Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy, former Nayeb Ameer of Hefazte Islam Bangladesh Khalid Hasan, Nurjahan Begum, Chief Executive Officer of Brati Sharmin Murshid and Farooqui Azam are staying as advisors.
