JCD demands arrest of banned BCL activists

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) activists staged protests at Dhaka University on Sunday demanding the arrest and prosecution of the activists of banned Bangladesh Chhatra League involved in violent attacks on students during the fascist regime.

The protests began with a procession from the Central Shaheed Minar and ended in front of Raju sculpture of the university in the evening.

Ganesh Chandra Ray, JCD president of the Dhaka University unit, urged his fellow activists not to fall into the trap set by the fascists who are trying to damage the image of Chhatra Dal.

He advised them to control their actions and behavior making sure they do not give space to the allies of fascism.

Regarding the demand to ban the partisan student politics oncampuses, Ganesh said that Chhatra Dal aims to lead future politics based on intellect, creativity, and ideology.

He also highlighted the hardship faced by JCD activists in the past 15 years, including imprisonment, torture, and attacks, and urged the interim government to arrest the BCL leaders responsible for the violence and killings.

Nahiduzzaman Shipon, JCD general secretary, alleged that Chhatra League men were plotting against Chhatra Dal and students’ interests in various university dormitories.

The event also attended by JCD senior vice president Masum Billah, Anisur Rahman Khandakar Anik, senior joint secretary Nasser Uddin Shawon, joint secretary Shamim Akhtar Shuvo, and organizing secretary Noor Alam Bhuiyan Imon.
