JS body for sustainable rural road construction

The parliamentary standing committee on Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Wednesday discussed the herringbone project for sustainable construction of rural roads.

The discussion on 2nd phase of the project at the 15th meeting of the committee was held at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban here this morning.

With Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister AB Tajul Islam in the chair, the meeting was attended, among others, by committee members Mir Mostaque Ahmed Robi, Juwel Areng, Mozibur Rahman Chowdhury, Masud Uddin Chowdhury and Kazi Kaniz Sultana.

The committee also discussed the initiatives which had been taken by the concerned ministry to face the impacts of recent past cyclone ‘Yash’ at the coastal region in the country, according to a parliament release here today.

The meeting finalized government order on gratuitous relief (GR) rice after discussion with the parliament members.

Disaster and relief secretary and other parliament secretariat officials attended the meeting.
