Kuhu Plamondon presents painting on Bangabandhu to BGMEA

Noted artist and fashion designer Kuhu Plamondon presented a painting on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to BGMEA President Faruque Hassan as a token of her appreciation of BGMEA’s efforts and contribution to the development of Bangladesh and branding the country internationally.

BGMEA Director Neela Hosna Ara and Director of Giant Group Sharmeen Hassan Tithi were also present at the event held at BGMEA Complex.

Kuhu Plamondon used denim, knits and acrylic to make the painting named “Made in Bangladesh” to depict Bangladesh, Bangabandhu and the garment industry in an artistic form, reports.

The painting “Made in Bangladesh” tells the story of Bangabandhu under a clear blue sky “The home coming of a legend” in sovereign Bangladesh, said Kuhu.

“The second part of the painting depicts the pigeons both as blood lost for independence and peace. The pigeons are all flying as free.  Bangabandhu gave his people wings so that they can fly. Pigeons represent all the RMG workers who bring love, food and happiness to their families. Bangabandhu gave us a nation and an identity and therefore we are all,” she added.

BGMEA President Faruque Hassan said, “Bangabandhu is fondly remembered by the people of Bangladesh for his invaluable contribution to the cause of independence for Bangladesh. He presented us with a free and sovereign country, our beloved Bangladesh. His iconic figure becomes vivid in our mind when we talk about Bangladesh as he is an inseparable part of Bangladesh.”

“Bangabandhu as the champion of democracy and freedom and the epitome of patriotism is the inspiration for us in our efforts to lead Bangladesh towards to a new height of glory and prosperity. The RMG sector has been playing a significant role in Bangladesh’s economic transformation to uplift the entire nation. The painting has brilliantly depicted Bangabandhu, Bangladesh and the RMG industry,” he remarked while thanking Kuhu for presenting the painting.

Kuhu Plamondon is a multi-talented Bangladeshi artist and fashion designer. She graduated in drawing and painting from the Institute of Fine Arts (now Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka) in 1977.

She completed her masters in 1983. She has held several solo and group exhibitions in different parts of the world.
