Mainul Hosein laid to rest after janaza at Supreme Court

Former caretaker government adviser and former Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Barrister Mainul Hosein was laid to rest at Azimpur graveyard in the capital on Sunday.

Mainul Hosein’s son Javed Hosein said his father was laid to eternal rest at about 4:00pm beside the grave of the deceased’s father Tofazzal Hossain Manik Mia, a veteran journalist, and the founding editor of the Daily Ittefaq.

Earlier, the namaj-e-janaza of Mainul Hosein was held at the Supreme Court premises after Zohr prayers. The janaza was attended by former chief justice Md Mozammel Hossain, judges of the Appellate Division and High Court Division, and lawyers of the Supreme Court.

Apart from Supreme Court judges, lawyers, politicians, court officials, showed last respect to Mainul by placing wreaths on his coffin following at the namaz-e-janaza at the Supreme Court compound.

Before the namaj-e-janaza, Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, and Supreme Court Bar Association president Md Mamtaz Uddin Fakir spoke remembering Barrister Mainul. His younger brother Anwar Hossain Manju and elder son Javed Hossain pleaded all to seek blessings for his departed soul.

Earlier, Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan in consultation with the five other judges of the Appellate Division suspended half-day proceedings of the Supreme Court from afternoon on Sunday in respect of Mainul Hosein.

Mainul Hosein, 83, who was also a former lawmaker, died at Evercare Hospital at 6:00pm following a brain haemorrhage that was caused after he fell at his Baridhara residence three days ago.
