MAN Siddique, the managing director of the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited or DMTCL, has said that the metro rail will soon start operating on Fridays.
Siddique confirmed on Monday afternoon.
“Our honourable advisor has directed us to work on the operations of the metro rail service on Fridays. We are working on it. We will go on a visit today as well. We need some more time. We need to organise the system for Fridays. However, we are working on the launch and we hope to do it soon.”
Several other officials of the DMTCL have also confirmed that metro rail services will soon be available to the public on Fridays.
Currently, the metro rail is open for public use six days a week, but does not run on Fridays.
Station controllers, train operators and other employees who work at the stations have been instructed to make a roster for Friday duties.
