NAP demands withdrawal of decision to raise soyabean oil price

The National Awami Party (NAP) in a statement Saturday condemned the decision to raise soyabean oil price and demanded its immediate withdrawal.

The statement issued by its president Enamul Haque and general secretary Paritosh Debnath said the hurriedly taken decision to raise soyabean oil price by Tk 38 per litre came as a surprise to the people.

It said the decision taken unilaterally by holding a meeting with the traders without considering the interest of the people of low income group cannot be accepted in any way.

The NAP leaders strongly demanded that the decision to increase the price be revoked and be kept at its previous level at Tk 160 per litre. If required, they added, the government can make adjustments in VAT at the import level to keep the price unchanged.
