Nasir Uddin Mahmud, accused in the case of attempted rape and murder of film actress Pori Moni, has been granted bail in a drug case and Omi has been remanded for three days in two cases.
Nasir’s lawyer Aminul Islam Liton said there is no obstacle for Nasir to get out of jail now.
On Wednesday, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim granted bail to Nasir Uddin Mahmud and three other women arrested along with him on a bond of Tk 5,000. The three women are Lipi Akhter, Sumi Akhter and Nazma Amin Snigdha.
The court has granted three-day remand in two separate cases under the Human Trafficking and Passport Act against Tuhin Siddiqui Omi, who was arrested in a case of rape and attempted murder. Two separate metropolitan magistrates ordered remand on Wednesday. The investigating officer of the two cases produced the accused before court and applied for a 10-day remand for each case.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Moinul Islam placed him on a two-day remand in the human trafficking case and Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sufian Mohammad Noman granted a one-day remand on the passport law case.
On Tuesday, Nasir and Omi were granted bail by Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahjadi Tahmida in a case of rape and attempted murder.
On June 23, the court of Dhaka Senior Judicial Magistrate Rajib Hasan placed the accused on remand for five days.
Following the remand, the investigating officer of the case, Savar Model Police Station Inspector (Operations) Kamal Hossain, on Tuesday requested the accused to be kept in jail.
On June 15, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khair Jessi granted remand to Nasir Uddin and Omi for seven days on drug case and three arrested women Lipi Akhter, Sumi Akhter and Nazma Amin Snigdha for three days. On Saturday, June 19, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mandal sent three women to jail after their remand completion in a drug case.
On June 14, actress Pori Moni filed the case with Savar Police Station against Nasir, Omi, and four unnamed people accusing them of trying to rape and kill her at Dhaka Boat Club on the night of 8th July. After she filled the case, Metropolitan Detective Police launched an operation. Police, later on, arrested the accused along with 1,000 yaba pills and foreign liquor in Uttara area of the capital.
