The High Court on Tuesday cleared the way for holding the 41st Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) preliminary examination on March 19, dismissing a writ petition seeking postponement of the test.
Justice Md Khasruzzaman and Justice Md Mahmud Hassan Talukder’s bench directed the Public Service Commission (PSC) to arrange the examination in compliance with the health rules.
The order came after hearing arguments on a writ petition filed by 10 aspirants.
“There’s no legal impediment to holding the preliminary examination of the 41st BCS on March 19,” Deputy Attorney General Bipul Bagmar said after the court order.
Lawyers Rabiul Alam and Khurshid Alam represented the writ petitioners and Bagmar represented the state.
Alam said they had sought postponement of BCS examination as the Covid-19 situation is deteriorating. The court dismissed the writ petition.
“We’re considering moving the Appellate Division,” he said.
Students will take part in the two-hour preliminary examination from 10am to 12pm in Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Sylhet, Rangpur and Mymensingh examination centres.
