No force can part AL from people: Quader

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader Wednesday said no force can separate the ruling Awami League (AL) from the country’s people.

“The AL was with the people in the past. It stands by them now and will remain beside them in the future. No conspiracy can keep the AL away from the country’s soil and its people,” he said after placing wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi-32 here, marking the AL’s 72nd anniversary.

Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, said the 72-year history of the Awami League is the history of struggle, pride, development and achievements.

Mentioning that the root of AL deepens in the soil of Bangladesh, he said: “From Bangabandhu to Sheikh Hasina – we have been bearing this tradition. The tradition of struggle, pride, development and achievements that we have been bearing will continue in the future.”

The AL general secretary said the pledge of the AL’s 72nd anniversary is to reconstruct Sonar Banga, dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by uprooting the anti-liberation and communal forces.

Replying to a question about the intruders in the AL, he said: “We will remain alert against the intruders in the future.”

Earlier, Quader along with the AL senior leaders paid homage to Bangabandhu by pacing a wreath at his portrait at Dhanmondi-32.

AL presidium members Begum Matia Chowdhury, Dr Abur Razzaque, Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Shajahan Khan, its joint general secretaries Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Dr Dipu Moni, Information and Broadcasting Minister and AL joint general secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud, organising secretaries Ahmad Hossain, BM Mozammel, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan and Shafiur Alam Chowdhury Nadel, publicity and publication secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap, office secretary Barrister Biplab Barua, science and technology affairs secretary Abdus Sabur, forest and environment secretary Delwar Hossain and deputy office secretary Sayem Khan were, among others, present.
