North South University (NSU) organised the ‘Spring and Pitha Festival 1431’ on its campus in the capital’s Bashundhara area on Tuesday.
The event was jointly held by the North South University Social Services Club and the North South University Sangskritik Sangathan (NSUSS), said a press release.
The university campus was adorned with colourful festoons, flyers and banners made by students to celebrate the spring season. Hundreds of students, dressed in vibrant red and yellow attire, welcomed the season of spring with flowers and cultural activities.
They performed music, poetry recitations, and dance. A variety of delicious traditional food – pitha – at the festival enticed people.
NSU Vice-Chancellor Prof Abdul Hannan Chowdhury inaugurated the programme, urging students to uphold and cherish Bengali culture.
Emphasising the importance of preserving traditions through cultural celebrations, he said, “Spring Festival is a celebration of our culture and heritage. This festival is part of our identity, and our responsibility is to preserve and promote it. North South University will always encourage students to engage in cultural activities.”
