NSU founder trustee Mahbubar Rahman dies

Founder General Members of the Board of Trustees of North South Universsity (NSU), Mahbubar Rahman died on 8 November at United Hospital. He was 91.

Rahman was a very successful man. Born in 1931, he was one of the first Muslim graduates from Cumilla Victoria College. He was an activist in the anti-British movements. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Dhaka in 1952. He also had a Post-Graduate Diploma in Financial Studies from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow.

He was a senior government officer in East Pakistan and later in Bangladesh. He was also a former Joint Secretary of the government, Board member of Janata Bank, Agrani Bank, Sadharan Bima Corporation and Jiban Bima Corporation.

Rahman had a significant role in founding of North South University. He was also the beloved father-in-law of NSU Board member, Dr. Junaid Kamal Ahmad.
