NSU, HSBC launch student work placement programme

The Career and Placement Center (CPC) of North South University hosted the Student Work Placement Programme on 8th October in collaboration with HSBC Bangladesh.

This initiative is designed to provide NSU students with hands-on experience in the dynamic banking world, helping them bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry practice.

The inauguration ceremony featured remarks from Professor Mohammad Khasro Miah, Director of CPC, who stated, “This partnership is a significant milestone in equipping our students with the practical skills needed to excel in their careers.”

Newaz Musharraf, HSBC Bangladesh’s Country Head of Global Payment Solutions and chief guest at the event, emphasised the importance of investing in youth talent. “Investing in youth talent is an investment in the nation’s future. Through this program, we aim to shape the next generation of leaders in banking,” he said.

The event was attended by key representatives from HSBC Bangladesh, including Sabin Rahman, Senior Vice President & Senior Manager of Learning, Talent Acquisition, and Organization Development in Human Resources, and Mr. Tanzid Samad Choudhury, Officer of Talent Acquisition and Human Resources. Their presence reflects HSBC’s commitment to empowering Bangladeshi youth and nurturing talent to meet the evolving demands of the financial industry.

During the event, the top five scorers from an interactive quiz were directly shortlisted for the Values Assessment Round, leading to selections for internships at HSBC. Selected students will engage in practical training, tackle real-time business challenges, and develop essential competencies critical to their long-term career success.

In his closing remarks, Professor Miah celebrated the achievements of the successful students and emphasised the strong ties between North South University and global institutions like HSBC. He affirmed, “The HSBC Bangladesh Student Work Placement Programme underscores our commitment to preparing our students for the global job market, empowering them to make a positive impact not just locally, but globally.”

As an esteemed NSU alumnus, Newaz Musharraf’s journey reflects the potential success this partnership seeks to instil in current students. The CPC at North South University looks forward to continuing its mission of nurturing future leaders, fostering critical industry partnerships, and enabling students to thrive in their professional journeys.
