NSU signs MoU with ASPEN Capital

North South University (NSU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ASPEN Capital on October 24, aimed at fostering educational and financial inclusion in Bangladesh.

The MoU focuses on equipping students with crucial financial and business management skills, aligning with NSU’s mission to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development.

Under this collaboration, ASPEN Capital will provide NSU students with free access to its Financial Literacy and Business Management (FLBM) training and the innovative PROFITIZE tool. The PROFITIZE tool is an accounting solution designed for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), enabling them to record transactions without advanced accounting expertise and generate financial statements.

NSU students, trained in using the PROFITIZE tool, will then volunteer to guide SME owners in understanding and effectively utilizing the tool. This initiative not only enhances the financial literacy of SMEs but also allows students to gain practical knowledge of accounting software and firsthand exposure to the SME sector. This experience is intended to inspire a spirit of entrepreneurship among students, preparing them for success in a competitive marketplace.

Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of NSU, emphasized the importance of this partnership and said, “This MoU signifies our commitment to providing quality education while fulfilling our social responsibility to extend financial knowledge to the wider community. By collaborating with ASPEN Capital, we are enabling our students to gain hands-on experience and contribute directly to the economic empowerment of SMEs, which play a vital role in the development of Bangladesh.”

Commenting on the significance of this collaboration, Mr. Razi Amin, Partner at ASPEN Capital, said, “At its core, this partnership between ASPEN and NSU is about creating lasting positive change for Bangladesh. By empowering both students and MSMEs, we are fostering a stronger, more resilient economy. The skills, knowledge, and support provided through this collaboration will have a ripple effect, boosting employment, entrepreneurship, and economic development throughout the country.”

The signing ceremony, held at NSU’s campus, was attended by faculty members from the School of Business and Economics, alongside representatives from ASPEN Capital. This collaboration highlights NSU’s continuous efforts to bridge academia and industry, empowering students and fostering the sustainable growth of Bangladesh’s economy.
