Nuclear related activities attract visitors’ attention at Ekushey Book Fair

To create public awareness and promote science and nuclear, Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC) with the support of Rosatom State Corporation has taken extensive programme at the ongoing Ekushey Book Fair 2022 in Dhaka.

Multifarious activities at BAEC stalls have started attracting the people, especially the young ones, from the very first day on Wednesday.

At the BAEC booths no. 712 and 713 within the campus of the Bangla Academy, visitors can actively participate in various fun filled activities including nuclear related games and quiz competitions to win attractive souvenirs. Besides, visitors interested to know about nuclear, can get relevant colourful Bangla booklets on complimentary basis. A miniature power model has also been set up at the stall to demonstrate how the electricity is generated. Watching the videos available for the visitors, one can enrich his/her knowledge in the nuclear field.

A group of well-trained young experts from BAEC and Information Center on Nuclear Energy (ICONE) in Dhaka are attending the visitors and answering to inquiries on nuclear related issues.

Bangladesh is now implementing its nuclear power programme and the first ever nuclear power plant is being constructed at Rooppur of Pabna district with the technical and financial assistance from Russia. Bangladesh has opted for the most advanced generation III Russian VVER 1200 reactors, which meet all the international safety requirements. As elsewhere in the world, use of nuclear technology in different spheres including agriculture and medicine is also getting momentum in the country, due to its eco-friendliness.
