A court Wednesday granted three days’ remand for Alamgir Hossain Abdullah who was arrested in connection with the murder of a former principal of Patgram Women’s College in Lalmonirhat.
Alamgir is a close friend of absconding Nahiduzzaman Babu, the main accused in the murder of ex-principal M Wajed Ali.
Judge of the senior judicial magistrate’s court Md. Belal Hossain granted the remand as Alamgir was produced before the court after being arrested on January 23 from Saheb Danga area of Patgram upazila.
A group of miscreants attacked on Wajed Ali, 68, also a freedom fighter, with sharp weapons on January 21. He died being taken to the Patgram Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Patgram thaka OC Md. Omar Faruque said details of the murder will be unearthed once Alamgir is interrogated.
Local people, including members of teachers’ association, formed a human chain in Patgram demanding arrest and trial of the killers of Wajed Ali, who was also a local leader of ruling Awami League.
