Open market sale of rice begins in Ctg

The Open Market Sale (OMS) of rice began at 33 points in Chattogram city today aimed at stabilizing the rice market.  According to the District Food Control Office, 28 metric tons of rice will be sold daily at 14 points in the city through 14 open trucks.

 Each truck will have two metric tons of rice. Besides, another two metric tons of rice and 5500 kg of flour will be sold every day at the designated dealers’ shops at 19 points in the city.

 A buyer can buy five kg of rice from an open truck at a price of Tk 30 each kg. Besides, five kg of rice can be bought for Tk 30 each and another five kg of flour for Tk 18 each kg from the dealer shops.

 On the other hand, the food-friendly program has also started in 15 upazilas of the district from September 1. Chattogram District Food Controller Abdul Quader said the program will continue for the next three months at different points in the city.
