Daffodil International University (DIU) warmly welcomed nearly 3,700 new students for the new semester. The day-long, grand celebration of the “Orientation Program Spring 2025” included discussion sessions, introductions, sports, and cultural events.
The program was held on January 11, at the university’s campus in Daffodil Smart City, Birulia, Savar. The event was graced by the presence of the Managing Director and CEO of Shimanto Bank PLC, Rafiqul Islam, as the Chief Guest, along with special guests such as the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan and Head of Internal Audit at Epic Group Mr. Hasan Islam. Deans, departmental heads, and other faculty members of the university were also present.
The new students were welcomed with flowers, and the university’s various achievements and successes were highlighted through video presentations. During this session, the Vice-Chancellor provided academic and practical life guidance to the students. He also urged them to utilize the campus’s resources and opportunities for their future development while building themselves as responsible citizens.
In his video message, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Md. Sabur Khan, said, “Our expectations from the freshers are immense. I believe they will enrich the university’s reputation internationally with innovative ideas and new achievements more than ever before. However, ultimately, they must prepare themselves as humane and valuable assets to the nation. The university administration is ready to provide them with all necessary opportunities for this purpose.”
The Chief Guest, Rafiqul Islam, Managing Director and CEO of Shimanto Bank PLC, said, “There is much to learn from the small things in life. If you observe, you will see that many less talented individuals achieve success due to hard work. Therefore, you must prepare yourselves by combining diligence and talent from the very beginning of your university life.”
Additionally, the new students had the opportunity to interact with successful alumni of the university. The event also honored the winning teams who achieved national and international success in 2024 in various fields, including badminton, football, debate, and the NASA Space Apps Challenge. The campus was lively and vibrant throughout the day with the presence of the freshers.
