Over 15,000 Pirojpur farmers get agri incentive

A total of 15,000 small and marginal farmers of the district were given seeds and fertilizers as agricultural incentives under the incentive programme free of cost for the cultivation of wheat, mustard, sunflower, groundnut, soybean, mung, lentil and khesari dal in the Rabi season.

Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said, a total of 134 hectares of land has been bought for watermelon cultivation during the current Rabi season and already 120 hectares of land have been cultivated.

If the weather is good, the farmers are hoping to benefit from watermelon cultivation in the district, DAE office sources said.

DAE sources said, 500 farmers were given wheat, 1,850 farmers were given maize, 3,000 farmers were given mustard seeds, 3,600 farmers were given sunflower, 120 farmers were given groundnut, 300 were given soyabean, 5,200 farmers were given mung bean, 400 farmers were given lentil and 700 farmers were given khesari dal seeds free of cost as incentives.
