The Padma Bridge is expected to open for traffic around June 30 next year, said Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam.
He made the remark at a briefing after the weekly cabinet meeting at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting virtually from Ganabhaban, while other ministers and secretaries attended from Secretariat.
“If everything remains alright, then the Padma Bridge will open for traffic on or around June 30 next year. The construction of the Padma Multipurpose Bridge is 87% complete already,” the cabinet secretary said.
He also said 70% of the construction work of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel under the Karnafuli River in Chittagong has been completed.
