Plea to file case against Hasina, 12 others

Rahim was arrested in a case filed over the 2009 mutiny. His son advocate Abdul Aziz applied to the court of Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Md Aktaruzzaman on Sunday (August 25).

Magistrate Ataruzzaman has recorded the plaintiff’s statement and kept the order pending.
 
Hasina, former BGB chief General Aziz Ahmed, Pilkhana mutiny case’s state counsel Mosharraf Hossain Kajol, former director general of prisons Brig Gen Ashraful Islam Khan, Dhaka South City Corporation mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, members of parliament Sheikh Selim, Nur Alam Chowdhury Liton, Sheikh Helal, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Mirza Azam, Hasanul Huq Inu, central jail’s superintendent in 2010, and doctor Dr. Rafikul Islam have been named in the case.
 
Another 200 anonymous others have also been accused.
 
Rahim’s son said his father was falsely implicated and illegally arrested in the case.
 
During the February 25-26, 2009, Pilkhana mutiny, 74 people, including 57 army officers, were killed at the Pilkhana headquarters of the paramilitary force in the capital. After the carnage, the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) was renamed BGB.
Two cases were filed over the carnage—one under the Explosives Act and the other for murder, accusing 846 people.
 
On November 5, 2013, the court delivered the verdict in the murder case.
 
In 2017, the High Court sentenced 139 people to death, 185 to life, and 200 to various terms of imprisonment in the case.
