PM opens Bangladesh House in Maryland, USA

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is now in Washington DC, inaugurated the newly constructed “Bangladesh House” at Maryland in the USA.

She opened the house at 4:30pm on Wednesday (local time), said PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim.

The Prime Minister earlier planted a fringe tree on the premise of the house.

She attended a prayer after the inauguration of the Bangladesh House.

Sheikh Hasina later exchanged pleasantries with Bangladeshi diplomats in Bangladesh Missions in the USA and their family members.

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen and Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA M Shahidul Islam, among others, were present.

The prime minister arrived in New York on September 19 to attend the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) after a two-day stopover in Helsinki, the Finish capital.

During her September 19-24 stay in New York, she attended the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the UN Headquarters, besides taking part in high-level events and meetings.

Sheikh Hasina also planted a honey locust tree and unveiled a bench at the UN gardens in memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the occasion of his birth centenary.

The prime minister travelled to Washington DC on September 25.

She is scheduled to return home on Friday (October 01).
