A prisoner from Dhaka Central Jail who was undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) died early hours today.
The deceased was identified as Mokdom Ali, a 50-year-old inmate from Manikganj’s Singair Upazila.
On 10 September this year, he was shifted to Dhaka Central Jail for advanced treatment of his cardiovascular disease from the Singair district in Manikganj.
On November 17 night, he was admitted to the Ward No. 501 of DMCH on “urgent basis” as his condition deteriorated, according to a press release.
He died at 3:30 pm today while undergoing treatment, according to the press release signed by Shuvash Kumar Ghosh, Senior Jail Super at Dhaka Central Jail.
The cause of death, as stated in the death certificate, is attributed to “aspiration pneumonia with acute resident”, said the press release.
Mokdom Ali was serving a one-year sentence in a case under the Negotiable Instruments Act, which refers to financial anomalies.
