A proposal to conduct Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) viva voce in network-free buildings to ensure transparency has been put forward.
The suggestion was made on Thursday (16 January) during a workshop titled “Bangladesh Public Service Commission: Stakeholders’ Perspectives” held at the PSC Secretariat.
Students from various public and private universities joined the workshop.
Prof Dr Mobassher Monem, Chairman of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC), attended the workshop as the chief guest.
The students shared their thoughts on the current state of BCS examinations and suggested ways to improve them.
They proposed that a dedicated network-free building be established for conducting viva voce exams, arguing that this measure would ensure impartiality by restricting access to only the examiners and candidates, thus eliminating any scope for nepotism or undue influence.
In their discussions, students urged the PSC chairman and its members to ensure that no irregularities occur during the viva examinations.
They also proposed the introduction of a unique identification (ID) system for all eligible candidates participating in PSC exams to enhance fairness and accountability.
Responding to the suggestions, the PSC chairman assured attendees that steps were already being taken to address these concerns. “The Commission aims to build a visionary institution that aligns with the aspirations of the nation, guided by the opinions of stakeholders like these students.”
