Quader finds no democracy in BNP

Awami League (AL) General Secretary Obaidul Quader Monday said as there is no democracy in BNP, the party has no capacity to establish democracy in the country. “The ruling AL has no counter programme with BNP. The BNP does not need leaders and workers to conduct the party but it needs leaders and workers for placing complaints before foreigners,” he said. Quader, also Road Transport and Bridges Minister, was addressing a preparatory meeting on the AL’s 22nd national council.

AL publicity and publication sub-committee arranged the meeting at the AL President’s Dhanmondi political office here. Speaking as the chief guest, Quader said the AL does not feel jealous on the popularity of BNP. It will be proved in the next general elections that which party is more popular in the country, he added.

The AL general secretary said the BNP leaders and activists have already forgotten the date when their party held a council at a five-star hotel. AL publicity and publication sub-committee convener Shahabuddin Chuppu presided over the meeting while AL publicity and publication affairs secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap moderated it.

Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar, AL office secretary Barrister Biplob Barua, deputy publicity and publication secretary Aminul Islam Amin and deputy office secretary Sayem Khan were, among others, present.
