RAB held five Rohingyas with fire arms

The Rapid Action Battalion held five Rohingya people with illegal fire arms and 4.10 lakh pieces of yaba from Balokhali area on Bangladesh-Myanmar border on Friday night.

The arrestees were Abdur Razzak known as Razzak Mazi, Mohammad Ilias, Mohammad Sahed, Mohammad Ayas, alias Azizul Hoque, and Saiful Islam.

RAB members seized 4.10 lakh pieces of contraband yaba tablets, one foreign made AK 22 rifle, one foreign Pistol, one SBBL and 17 rounds bullets.

Lieutenant Colonel Khairul Islam Sarkar, Commanding Officer, RAB-15, disclosed the information at a press briefing at his office on Saturday afternoon.

He said that gang leader Nabi Hossain organised a syndicate in the bordering area with some Rohingya refugees and local Bangladeshi citizens for trading yaba and other drugs from Myanmar.

He added that a RAB team was waiting in bordering area of Balokhali point on Friday night at about 11:30pm after getting secret information that a group of smuggling suspects were coming from Myanmar crossing the river Naff by a small boat.

RAB personnel held them afterwards. A case was filed with Ukhiya police station in this connection, according to the RAB official.
